Gravity Falls Inspired Pan Shot

A background piece I created for my "layout for animation" class at uni! We were tasked with designing a panning background, so that means working with multiple layers for the foreground, midground, and background to create a parallax effect: by adjusting how fast elements of an illustration move in relation to the camera, you can create a sense of three dimensional depth. We were given the choice of mimicking the style of a few popular animated shows, and I chose Gravity Falls! I don't normally create such heavily lined pieces, so this was a fun challenge!

Removing the foreground layer, you can see the additional art created for the midground pieces to allow each element to move without gaps appearing
